WELCOME TO WINDMILL LAKES.....

We purchased two 4 acre lakes deep in the heart of the Loire Valley in 2003, situated just 5 hours from Calais and 3 hours from Caen, so we are within comfortable distance from the ports.

The lakes were dug approximately 20 years ago and are surrounded by a plantation of poplar trees, completely secluded from outside distractions. We have no roads, trains or industrial units anywhere near the lakes, so apart from the occasional tractor there is total peace and tranquillity.

We now have a lakeside Alpine Chalet situated just 15 metres from the banks of the Carp Lake, so you can enjoy the beautiful views of the whole venue whilst enjoying a beer on the veranda. More info...

There is an English style shower and toilet, with hot and cold running water, adjacent to the main house which is available 24/7, also a fridge and bait freezer are on site for your use.

We also offer a food package for those not willing to survive on the obligatory “Pot Noodles”.

The Carp Lake:

The “Carp Lake” was stocked in January 2004 with Mirror, Common and Grass Carp to 40 lbs +. This lake is now enjoying great success, the fish are established and growing fast with a new Grass Carp record of 42lbs landed by Keith Ward in August 2008 and the Mirror Carp record standing at 45lbs caught by Phil Ince in September 2007. 2008 also saw a 3lb 8oz Crusian Carp landed so we are keeping our eye on that one.

The lake has a clay bottom with a small island offering a good feature with overhanging trees. There is no access onto the island. The depths vary from 0.5 - 2.6 metres with a small stream running into the shallow area. Excess water from the “Top Lake” runs in via a sluice. The lake is available for a maximum of four anglers using 3 rods each.

The Facilities:

In 2008 we added the Alpine Chalet, situated approximately 15 metres from the banks of the Carp Lake overlooking the whole venue.

There are 3 beds including a small double, a bunk bed and a single, all with bedding supplied, also a table & chairs, sink, gas hob and fridge, 12 volt electricity and pumped water.

The veranda is the perfect place for the non-angler to relax with a cold drink and take in the peace and beauty of the surroundings.

Food Package:

We offer a food package for your convenience. No worrying about supermarket runs or who’s turn is it to wash up!!!

BREAKFAST:- Orange juice, Sausage, Bacon, 2 Eggs, Hash Browns, Beans and Mushrooms.

Continental breakfast is available on request.

(Please note there is no cooked breakfast on Saturdays but croissants, cereal and toast will be served)

DINNER:- Meatballs in spicy tomato sauce with pasta, Sunday Roast with Pork, Lamb or Chicken, Quiche with Salad and Potatoes, Home made Chicken & Ham Pie with Chips, Chicken Supreme with Rice, Beef in Beer with Mash, Shepherd’s Pie with veg.

DESSERTS:- Served with Custard, Cream or Ice Cream

Fruit Crumble, White Chocolate Pudding, Fruit Pancakes, Lemon Tart, Chocolate Fondant Pudding, Peach Melba,Tart Tatine.

Tea, Coffee and Water are included together with unlimited Bread & Butter.
