Venue description:

If your idea of a great French Carp Fishing Holiday venue is a reed fringed, historic estate lake set amongst mature forest with beautiful features like lily pads, overhanging trees and reed beds, then look no further.

Trois Fontaine combines all of these features with awesome fishing for carp to over 40lb, sensible rules and space and tranquility that is hard to find on any venue.
For peaceful surroundings, a natural environment and good fishing, Trois Fontaine is the perfect venue for your carp fishing holiday in France.

Mirror Carp of over 30lb are a common occurrence at Trois Fontaine, with a good chance of a 40lb+ specimen always on the cards, and the stock are piling on the weight year on year.

We have carried out an extensive stocking program to complement the existing stock and we know that we have several 40's to crown the existing and introduced stock of 20's and 30's, one fish in particular is expected to top 50 this year.

The fishing is perfect, with no poisson chat or crayfish to bother you, and the carp are still not used to being caught so, while not perhaps being easy :-), they are very catchable.

The natural surrounding give bags of features to fish to, from extensive lily beds to marginal rushes and fallen and overhanging trees, something for everyone regardless of style.

The two lakes at Trois Fontaine consist of a 21 acre mature estate lake and a two acre more recently built lake (still over 30 years old) that gives a variety of fishing, from feature rich margin to wide open vistas.

The larger lake is recorded as being in existence in 1833 but was originally created by the local monks centuries ago to breed carp for the table as were many of the best lakes in France. The carp are virgin fish as the lake has never been fished on a commercial basis by the previous French owners.

The rules are sensible and kept to a minimum as your enjoyment of the venue and the protection of the stock are our primary goals.

All of the swims are faced with timber and have plenty of space for your bivvy and rods and most will comfortably take more than one angler (some even have plenty of room for three or four anglers!), the location is breathtakingly beautiful and the carp fight like furies....

The Main Lake:

The main lake consists of 21 acres, of which 15 acres will be fished, and makes an ideal location for your carp fishing holiday in France. The remaining water is being used to raise our own future stocking carp.

We have no records of the original carp stock but these are being caught with the new fish we put in. We were told there were carp of 25 kilos (55lb) by the previous owners and judging by the enormous sploshes and showings we have seen, there is no reason to dispute this!
The main lake was stocked with over a ton of the Royal strain of carp from mid twenties to a massive 52lb in 2007 and, while the total number is unknown, the catch rate has shown that there are an impressive number of carp in the main lake alone.

This lake was fished by Lee of Basingstoke Angling Centre and his fishing partner Pete who caught between them 1058 pounds of fish in 4 days, only one being a re-catch. Pete achieved his all time ambition to catch two fish together so we have put this on the gallery to spread his fame!
The fishing can be very hectic when the shoals move over your bait and Lee had to bring in his rods on the first night as he was desperately in need of sleep and his Delkims just would not stop!

If you are looking for the sort of dream lake that blends great fishing with all the features that you look for on a venue, then look no further. Trois Fontaine's Main Lake gives you everything you could ever want with the addition of a great location, easy reach of the channel ports and very helpful and friendly management.

The Small Lake:

This smaller landscaped lake of just over 2 acres is available to anglers to expand your water area and provide a change of fishing techniques.

The lake was created by the previous French owners and is a pretty lake with willows, overhanging trees, shrubs and reeds. There is a lawn on one side, easy access around two thirds of the lake and a natural side left for stalking.

We have stocked this lake with carp up to mid thirties to complement the existing stock and we have been encouraging rapid growth by feeding them on a high protein diet to grow them on. Check out the Gallery page to see the results!

Scot had an incredible session and topped of a catch of 30 carp with the first capture of this magnificent specimen which he got to name as Marie.

The Small Lake is an easier venue and is a great place to go if you are struggling on the Main Lake and, as the picture shows, the rewards can be amazing!

Margin fishing on this lake can pay dividends with the reeds along the marginal shelf acting as natural attractors to the carp and being obvious places to lay a trap or try your hand at stalking.
The smaller size of this lakes makes it less susceptible to having the stock moved around with changes in wind direction and the carp are never far away from your bait.

The Facilities:

Trois Fontaine is an English owned and run fishery and we specialise in making your holiday in France as easy and enjoyable as possible.

We provide a comfortable toilet and shower block situated on the dam between the two lakes with sinks, English style toilets and power showers.

We use English 3 pin power sockets and razor, battery and phone charging is free (No need to buy any international plugs!). A washing machine and tumble dryer is on site for the anglers’ use.

Parking is secure by the house and within a few yards of both of the lakes. The entrance gate is kept locked at night and during the day if no one is expected.
We have a number of barrows to get your kit around the lakes which helps cut down on the kit you need to bring with you.

The Venue:

The swims have been sensitively created to provide privacy for those who want to get away from it all and plenty of cover.

We have a good mix of single and double swims (even a triple!) to cover all sizes of parties, from an angler on his own to groups of up to 10.

All of the swims are on a firm surface and covered with wood chipping's as well as being faced to make access to water easy.

Access to the swims is by a recently established path that gives easy barrow access to all the fishing areas.

Rubbish bins are provided at the rear of each swim and are emptied daily.

Help and Advice:

Our resident bailiff is always available to give help and advice to get you catching and, as he is a keen angler, his advice is always worth listening to ;-)
He is always available (within reason :-) to give you a hand if you have a problem and will help with anything from a drifting bait boat to a snagged fish. In fact we encourage you to ask for his help with snagged fish to reduce the risks to the carp.

Please remember if you make a booking to let the lake know you found them via Carper.co.uk
